1. About this Policy

1.1

This Cookies Policy explains how DUVIAN LTD, trading as PrestigeSkins, uses cookies and similar technologies on https://prestigeskins.store (the “Site”), what those technologies do, and how you can control them.

This Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally, and forms part of it.

Cookies are regulated in the United Kingdom by regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 (“PECR”). Where information collected through a cookie is personal data, its processing is also governed by the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. What cookies and similar technologies are

2.1

A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device when you visit it. Cookies allow a site to recognise your device, remember your actions and preferences, and function correctly.

2.2

This Policy also covers other technologies that store information on, or gain access to information already stored on, your device — because PECR regulates all of them in the same way. These include:

  • Local storage and session storage — browser storage used by modern web applications to hold data such as an anonymous session identifier or interface preferences;
  • Pixels, web beacons and tracking tags — tiny images or scripts embedded in a page or email that record that a page has been loaded or a message opened;
  • Software development kits (SDKs) and similar embedded code; and
  • Device or browser fingerprinting techniques, which infer an identifier from your device’s configuration. Where we or any provider use a fingerprinting technique for a non-essential purpose, it requires your consent in the same way as a cookie.

2.3

Wherever this Policy says “cookies”, it means all of the technologies listed above.

2.4

First-party cookies are set by prestigeskins.store. Third-party cookies are set by another organisation whose service is embedded in a page, and are read by that organisation.

2.5

Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device until they expire or you delete them.

3. The law we apply

3.1

Under regulation 6 of PECR, we may only store information on, or access information stored on, your device where:

  • (a) you have given your consent; or
  • (b) the storage or access is strictly necessary for the provision of a service that you have expressly requested (the “strictly necessary” exemption).

3.2

A further narrow exemption applies where the sole purpose is carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network.

3.3

Consent must meet the UK GDPR standard. That means it must be freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous, and given by a clear affirmative act. In practice, this means that on our Site:

  • (a) non-essential cookies are not set before you consent;
  • (b) consent boxes for non-essential categories are not pre-ticked;
  • (c) continuing to scroll or browse is not treated as consent;
  • (d) rejecting non-essential cookies is as easy as accepting them, and both options are presented with equal prominence; and
  • (e) you can withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it.

3.4

“Strictly necessary” is a narrow test. It means necessary to deliver the service you have asked for — not necessary for our business. Analytics, advertising and audience-measurement cookies are not strictly necessary, however useful we find them, and are therefore only set with your consent.

4. A note about our platform

4.1

The Site runs on WordPress with WooCommerce, and sits behind a caching and content-delivery layer. This is relevant to cookies because:

  • (a) WooCommerce sets cookies that are strictly necessary to operate a basket and a checkout — for example to remember the contents of your basket between pages and to hold a session while you complete an order;
  • (b) WordPress sets cookies when you log in to an account, and when you interact with certain features;
  • (c) the caching layer may set a short-lived cookie or use a similar mechanism to decide whether a page can be served from cache or must be generated individually for you — for example when you have items in your basket or are logged in; and
  • (d) a security or bot-mitigation layer may set a cookie to distinguish genuine visitors from automated traffic.

4.2

Why we describe categories rather than naming every cookie. The precise cookie names, their exact durations and the set of third parties involved depend on the plugins, theme, caching configuration and providers in use, and these change when the platform is updated. Publishing a list that is out of date would be worse than publishing none. We therefore describe cookies by category and purpose, which is what matters for your decision, and we make the live, current detail available to you in the cookie preference centre on the Site, which reflects what is actually running at the time you look at it.

4.3The categories set out above describe the cookies and similar technologies in use on the Site. If you would like an itemised list of the specific cookies set during your visit, including their provider, purpose and duration, contact us at contactform@prestigeskins.store and we will provide it.

5. Categories of cookies we use

5.1

We group cookies into four categories. Only the first category is set without your consent.

Providers. Where a category involves a third party, the current provider is one of the following: analytics — our analytics provider; advertising and campaign measurement — our advertising partners; content delivery, caching and bot mitigation — our infrastructure and security providers; payment processing — our payment service providers. Each of these operates under its own privacy notice, and we link to those notices in our cookie preference centre.

Marketing cookies. ****

Payment pages. When you pay, our payment provider may set its own strictly necessary cookies to secure the transaction and to detect fraud. These are essential to completing a payment you have requested.

5.5

Steam. We do not embed Steam tracking code on the Site. When you leave our Site to accept a Trade Offer on Steam, Valve Corporation’s own cookies and policies apply, and we have no control over them.

5.6

We do not use cookies to make any decision about you that produces a legal effect or similarly significant effect. Fraud-prevention signals are described honestly in clause 6 of our Privacy Policy.

6. Giving and withdrawing your consent

6.1

When you first visit the Site, a cookie banner appears. It tells you that we use cookies, explains the categories, and lets you:

  • (a) accept all non-essential categories;
  • (b) reject all non-essential categories — with a button as prominent and as easy to use as “accept”; or
  • (c) open the preference centre and choose category by category.

6.2

No non-essential cookie is set until you have made a choice. Strictly necessary cookies are set regardless, because they are exempt.

6.3

Withdrawing or changing your consent. You may change your mind at any time:

  • (a) click the “Cookie preferences” link, available in the footer of every page of the Site, and change your settings; or
  • (b) email us at contactform@prestigeskins.store and we will help you.

6.4

Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and is free. Withdrawal takes effect immediately for future processing. It does not make earlier processing unlawful, and it does not automatically delete cookies already stored on your device — you can remove those using your browser controls (clause 7).

6.5

How long your choice lasts. We record your cookie choice in a strictly necessary cookie so that we do not have to ask you on every page. We will ask you again after 12 months, if we introduce a new category or a materially new purpose, or if you clear your cookies.

7. Controlling cookies through your browser

7.1

Most browsers let you see what cookies are stored, delete them individually or entirely, and block cookies from some or all sites. These controls are found in your browser’s settings, usually under “Privacy”, “Privacy and security”, or “Site settings”. Browser controls apply to that browser on that device only, so you will need to repeat them on each device and browser you use.

7.2

Useful general guidance on managing cookies, written for consumers, is published by the ICO at https://ico.org.uk and by the National Cyber Security Centre at https://www.ncsc.gov.uk.

7.3

What happens if you block cookies. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the Site will not work: in particular you may be unable to log in, keep items in a basket, or complete a purchase. If you reject functional, analytics or marketing cookies, the Site will continue to work normally — you will simply have a less personalised experience, and we will have less information with which to improve it. We will never restrict access to the Site, degrade the service, or charge you more because you refused non-essential cookies.

7.4

“Do Not Track” and Global Privacy Control. Browser “Do Not Track” signals are not consistently implemented and there is no accepted standard for how sites should respond, so the Site does not currently respond to them. **** Your choices in our preference centre always take effect regardless.

8. Cookies and personal data

8.1

Some cookies collect information that is personal data — for example an online identifier or an IP address. Where that is the case, we process it in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which sets out our lawful basis, retention periods, and your rights.

8.2

In summary: for strictly necessary cookies we rely on our legitimate interests, or on the necessity of the processing to perform our contract with you; for functional, analytics and marketing cookies we rely on your consent under Article 6(1)(a) of the UK GDPR, in addition to the consent required by PECR.

You have the right to access, correct and erase personal data collected through cookies, to object to processing, and to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (https://ico.org.uk, helpline 0303 123 1113). See clause 11 and 15 of our Privacy Policy.

9. Changes to this Policy

9.1

We may update this Policy when we change the technologies we use, change providers, or when the law or regulatory guidance changes. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was last revised.

9.2

If we introduce a new category of non-essential cookie, or use an existing one for a materially new purpose, we will ask for your consent again before doing so.
